residential case study:
park avenue full-floor apartment

This full-floor apartment used special touches to make it sing. The palette for the apartment was based on deep reds, a muted green, creamy neutrals and metallic gold. The gold glaze helped direct light into the foyer itself, illuminating this dark central space with a warm hue.

Dining Room: the walls and woodwork were glazed in a deep red strie finish, then varnished to bring out the full depth of the color. The woodwork was also hand-pinstriped in gold.

Living Room: part of the ceiling was glazed as red marble, picking up on the red in the dining room.

Foyer: walls were glazed in a gold and raw umber parchment finish, designed to mimic the background of the living room's wallpaper. Doors and woodwork were glazed as a combination of the wall glaze on the door panels with a muted green strie finish on the moldings.

Elevator Vestibule: entry doors and woodwork were glazed as a muted green strie finish, repeating part of the treatment in the foyer. The woodwork was also hand-pinstriped in deep red, deep green and raw umber to match colors in the surrounding wallpaper.
