residential case study:
new jersey kitchen
Our client requested a simple glaze for the kitchen walls with a trompe l'oeil tile backsplash painted on the wall behind the stove. The tiles were based on an Italian design and a Mediterranean country color palette.
By choosing a blue for this glaze, we picked up on the undertones in the granite, harmonized with the tiles, and contrasted the cool walls against the warm color of the cabinetry. The tone of the blue was designed to fall midway between the light wood cabinetry and the dark granite countertops, balancing the two extremes. As a result of these choices, the walls, cabinetry and countertops became distinctly separate, yet remained interrelated.
