residential case study:
upper east side renovation
This three bedroom apartment was created by combining three units in a post-war building. The client's taste for bold and dramatic effects was combined with old-world touches, such as traditional furnishings and lavish drapery. Decorative finishes pulled the look together.
Dining Room: the walls were glazed in a dramatic copper and red glaze.
Dining Room Cabinets: new cabinetry was painted in three colors, distressed, gold leafed, glazed, fly specked and waxed to mimic an old, peeled finish.
Living Room: the walls were glazed in a stone-colored parchment to match the stone mantelpiece.
Foyer: the walls and the interiors of the bookcases were glazed in a cream textured finish.
Bedroom: the walls were glazed in a deep red on red frottage finish.
Library: new cabinetry was painted as faux oak to match the existing real oak cabinetry and shelving. New columns were painted as a contrasting faux mahogany.
